Fall is spectacularly beautiful! Whether it’s the blazing red maples or the shimmering golden aspens that you love, fall is a delight for the eyes. This year make it a delight for your taste buds, too! These multicolored leaf cookies, and their tiny turkey friends, will make a bright addition to any Thanksgiving celebration or fall get-together.
In this video I show you how to combine different colors of tinted dough to make multi-hued leaf patterns, turkey feather patterns, and a few other surprises. 😉
Here’s the cookie dough recipe and some photos of the pressed cookies and baked results.

Powdered Sugar Spritz
1 1/2 cup (3 sticks) butter, softened (not melted)
3/4 cup plus 1 1/2 Tablespoons powdered sugar
3 teaspoons vanilla extract- for maple, 1 tsp vanilla and 2 tsp maple extract
3 cups plus ¼ cup flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
The quick instructions:
Cream the butter very well, then add the sugar and cream it again. Add the extracts and mix well. Add the flour, baking powder and salt and mix until all dry ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
You can always troubleshoot a spritz dough by adding water or vanilla extract a teaspoon at a time to stiff, dry dough, or adding flour a tablespoon at a time to overly sticky or soft dough. Perfect spritz dough has a soft malleable texture that is not too sticky or too stiff.
Color the dough in various shades using gel food dye. Combine the colors and press with a cookie press, using the disks of your choice.
(*NOTE: Our new disks are made of a solid white material, but the designs are exactly the same, and press identically.)
Bake in a 400 degree oven for 6-10 minutes or until the edges just begin to brown slightly. Let cool for two minutes before removing to a cooling rack.

Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Fall, and as always, Happy Baking!
