Hi Friends of Impress Bakeware!

It’s Christmas in July! And we’re having a SALE!

For this post I’m focusing on two themes:

One: Trying out new cookie techniques and recipes in the summer.

It’s a great time of year to hone your skills before the pressure of holiday baking! Your family and friends will thank you for all of the “test” cookies you make. 😉

Two: I’m also focusing on the artistic side of baking spritz and embossed cookies.

Make Edible Art.

My husband and I are both artists. He’s a landscape photographer with a gallery here in Colorado, and I’m a wildlife photographer. This summer we decided that nature-inspired rolling pins and disks go well with nature photography.

“Edible Art Starts Here!” is what my sign in the window says, and I wanted to share that thought with all of you.

When you use cookie press shapes and embossed pins, you aren’t just baking cookies – you are making edible art.

Lean into that idea and start exploring your artistry. Are you in a rut? Do you need to try new things and shake it up a bit? I have a variety of fun cookie techniques, and oodles of delicious recipes. Why not try the ones you haven’t gotten to yet?

Summer is a fabulous time to practice baking!

Practicing new skills now means easy breezy no-fail baking during the Holidays.

So here are some ideas:

Are there techniques you haven’t tried yet?

Luster dust painting

Coloring dough

Icing accents

A GREAT place to start is my Big Halloween Spritz Cookie Tutorial. It covers all of the basic techniques I use to make my cookies so colorful. Use these techniques for any holiday by changing up the shapes and colors. These techniques work the same way for baking Halloween, Christmas, snowflakes, Thanksgiving, Easter, or any of our fun sets like Dinosaurs or Flowers.

My recipe book The Best of Creative Cookie Press is a complete tutorial of all of my knowledge, insights, tips, troubleshooting, and best-of recipes in one place. Many of you who already have it say it’s a great resource, and I am thrilled that you’re finding it so helpful! Grab a copy this summer and you’ll be ready to bake with new ideas and skills this fall and winter!

Look around this blog!

Take a crack at the Christmas and Fall recipes you haven’t tried yet! Use the menu on this blog to search for a specific holiday or simply scroll down the home page for ideas .

Get some new disk sets to freshen up your baking this year!

For example, If you have our Snowflakes disks, have you picked up the More Snowflakes set? Give yourself the gift of options. With more disks you can mix things up and get even more creative.

We have several Christmas-themed sets and a second Halloween set, too. Now would be the time to add them to your collection and get used to pressing them. Brainstorm some fun for the coming holidays!

Okay here’s a big question. Have you tried our embossed rolling pins yet?

They are soooo much fun. I never thought I could love making anything as much as spritz (cookie press) cookies. But I adore using these pins.

The pins keep things fresh for me. It’s a different activity, a different medium for my art. They make absolutely incredible sandwich cookies. PLUS you seriously have to try rolling patterned buttercream cookie toppers. They are decadently delicious and totally eye-catching. At parties they are real conversation pieces!

Rolling these cookies is a different skill than pressing spritz cookies, so now is the stress-free time to try it!

The embossed pins allow you to make bigger cookies than bite-sized spritz, but with patterns just as adorable and festive for your dessert tables. You can use the same decorating techniques as the spritz cookies. One difference is you can paint these cookies with brushes or your fingers! I have several posts with finger-painting tutorials. Again, scroll the homepage and see what looks fun.
